CENTERLESS GRINDING

We specialise in small precision ground components from 1.0mm (0.040") diameter up to 100mm (4") and a maximum of 600mm long, both through & plunge grinding.

 Most materials can be ground e.g. hard & soft metals, brass, aluminum or rubber. By using a template, angles & stepped diameters can be plunge ground.

RECLAMATION WORK & CHROME PLATING SPECIALIST

We have a wealth of knowledge & experience in dealing with different materials & techniques, which we use to benefit our customers.

 We can re-build parts of components that have been worn during service by hard chrome plating, metal spraying or re-sleeving and then grinding it back to size.
This is a very cost effective solution as the operation is quick, low in cost & the component is ready in a few hours thus saving on the cost of a replacement.

Our modern Inspection department strives to maintain the quality reputation T.J.Smith & Son has built up over the last fifty + years. We are an ISO 9001:2015 accredited company and as required by this standard we run an internal audit system for all of our procedures and follow up with any changes required to ensure that we are working to and surpassing the standard.
As with all of our departments, our Quality and Inspection department also works in close partnership with our customers, we can then ensure that all of our ground components are up to the standard our customer’s have come to expect.

• FARO Gage Plus is the industry’s first line of personal Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs). portable gage for machinists.

• Mitutoyo BH305 CMM Machine

• Bowers Analogue Bore Gauges accurate shop-floor bore measurement ensures both accuracy and ease of use.

• Bowers Digital Internal bore gauges between 10mm and 200mm gives the operator and Inspector the advantage of traditional quality ratchet gauges allied to advanced IP65 electronics. (All measuring head externally calibrated)

• Bowers Digital Holematic micrometers between 10mm - 200mm capacity. The Pistol grip handle gives a constant measuring pressure to eliminate operator "feel".

• Optical Projector 500mm screen with Digital read out.

• Digital and conventional external Micrometers.
